Bodies, wicks, and conviction
Big bodies mean one side dominated. Small bodies mean a stalemate.
Big body = conviction
A wide body with almost no wicks means one side controlled the whole session. Green: demand ran the show. Red: supply did. These are momentum candles.
Small body = stalemate
A candle that opens and closes nearly at the same price is a draw — indecision. On its own it predicts nothing; what matters is which side breaks out next.
Size is relative
"Big" only means something next to recent candles. Compare every body to the last 10 candles, not to your feelings. This habit becomes automatic once you have seen a few hundred charts.
Quick check
A huge green candle just printed mid-range with no level nearby. You should…
- Note the momentum but wait for a level
- Buy instantly
- Assume the trend reversed
- Sell everything
Momentum without location is just energy. Energy at a level is a setup. Patience between the two is what Unit 5 builds on.
