Unit 4 · Chart Patterns

Support & resistance

Floors, ceilings, and the memory of price.

Levels are memories

Where price stalled or reversed before, it tends to react again — orders pile up at remembered prices. Support is a floor being defended; resistance is a ceiling being sold.

Roles flip at a break

When a ceiling finally breaks, it often becomes the new floor — old resistance turns support. That flip is the backbone of retest trading in Unit 5.

Quick check

Price broke above resistance and came back to touch it from above. This level is now often…
  • Support — buyers defend old ceilings
  • Stronger resistance than before
  • Irrelevant
  • A guarantee

The role flip is the whole basis of the retest entry: old resistance, once broken, is defended by the buyers who created the break.
