Unit 5 · Traps & Breakouts

Retests & confirmation

Let the level prove it flipped before you pay for it.

The retest script

Break, then pullback to the old level from the new side. If it holds — old ceiling as new floor — the break earned trust. Entry on the hold, stop just on the wrong side of the level.

When there is no retest

Some breaks run without looking back. Chasing them means a wide stop and worse math. The disciplined answer is: wait for the next retest, or let the trade go. Missed money is safer than lost money.

Quick check

Price broke out and is now stretched far from the level with no pullback. You should…
  • Wait for a retest or skip the trade
  • Market-buy the top
  • Short the trend immediately
  • Double your size

The retest is both entry and evidence. Skipping a stretched chase costs nothing; catching the reversal costs real money.
